At
6-foot, 5-inches, Jim is very tall! His body type is a trim "W"
shape with his shoulders being wider than his hips. However, with his
extreme height he tends to look long and lanky without the right clothes
to show off his shape.
How
did Jim get the results he wanted, to dress for success?
- For
Jim, hilighting shoulder and chest width is key. Jackets with structured
shoulders and wider lapels are a must. 3 button sport coats with a higher
stance or double breasted suit jackets are both great for enhancing
that ideal "V" shape.
- Length
of tops and jackets are important too. You don't want to look like you've
grown out of clothes that are too small. However, if they're too long,
you'll be swimming in them.
- For
a tall man like Jim with a long neck, the standard collar or a button-down
works best to balance with his own scale. A spread collar would be a
big mistake for a man like Jim.
- Tie
width and tie knots should be appropriate to size of scale and bone.
For Jim, a full Windsor knot and a tie with horizontal stripes are best
to help visually break up some of his height and show width where he needs it most.
- Anything
with chest details; breast pockets, horizontal chest stripes, pocket
hankies, etc are all valuable in adding some visual breadth across the shoulders.
- For
Jim, mid-width pants with a cuff at the bottom are ideal. They keep
his legs from looking "stork-like" and the cuff brings balance
at the bottom.
- Color
can play a very important part in dressing, whether it's for the office
or more casually. The right colors make our skin look healthy, while
the wrong shades will make us look green, gray, yellow or pale and sickly.
- By
wearing his accent colors in ties, pocket hankies, coat-scarves and
other accessories., Jim can make his dazzling eye color sparkle!
- Bright
white and true black only look their best on one color palette. In this
case, Jim's the lucky one. However, men especially should be cautious
not to wear very white shirts if their teeth aren't very white also.
Nothing will show off yellow teeth like a bright white shirt does!
- A new side part
in Jim's hair, brings focus to the "softer side" of his very
angular featured face. Doing this helps to give Jim's face a more open,
even and less sharp-featured look.
Everyone
can use a little update on their personal presentation! As a successful
business leader, Jim knows the impact of a great first impression. You
